The Third Man makes the simple musician Anton Karas a world star. Anton Karas' Harry Lime Theme becomes popular in the United States already before its opening in New York. For many weeks it is number 1 of the American charts and becomes one of the most famous tunes ever.

Our collection shows the original zither which Anton Karas used in London for composing and recording the film music.

Other items on display are postcards, signed portraits, numerous recordings (shellac, vinyl, CD), music sheets from all over the world and a private photo collection out of the estate of Anton Karas.

At the audio terminal visitors can listen to more than 400 cover versions of the Harry Lime Theme, amongst others The Beatles and Glenn Miller Orchestra.
