Dr. Alberto G. Romulo, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines, (2nd from left) visited the Third Man Museum, accompanied by Brigitte Timmermann (3rd from left) and the Ambassador of the Philippines (right). His profound knowledge about 'The Third Man' and post-war Vienna was just impressing!

The Vienna Sewer Authority provides the Third Man Museum with an original sewer grate! See here pictures from the "heaven of sewer grates" at the stockyard of the Sewer Authority.
At the Third Man Museum you can find out which tricks were played with the sewer grate in Harry Lime's chase scene and who stretched his fingers through the grate in place of Orson Welles...
Sewer grates as far as the eye can reach. Josef Gottschall of the Vienna Sewer Authority helps Gerhard to find an appropriate grate.

English filmmaker Peter Whitehead shoots sequences of his new film on location in the Third Man Museum:
Peter Whitehead and his discovery Sophie Strohmeier.
The extended rooms with the new exhibition "Harry Lime's Vienna: Occupied Vienna 1945-55" are open! Backed by the quotes of the movie, the new rooms show a vast array of original documents of the time and give an unusual approach to contemporary history.
Creating the character of Harry Lime, Graham Greene was very much inspired by his friend and superior at the British Intelligence Service Harold Kim Philby. Philby learned about the Viennese sewers when he was in Vienna during the Austrian Civil War in 1934. Thus it appears that Graham Greene collected information already from the time before the war. Together with world famous double agent Kim Philby pre-war Vienna is another new subject of the exhibition:

Opera star Anna Netrebko visited the Third Man Museum! Spontaneously she put on a 'third man hat' when strolling through the exhibition. Which photo motive could be better for the Russian-Austrian Soprano than the Russian-Austrian petrol pump?
August 2006
This petrol pump was in use of the petrol stations network of the Soviet mineral oil administration in Austria (OROP) during the Allied occupation after World War II. You can see it in our exhibition about post-war Vienna.
June/July 2006

We proudly present...
Just recently we got the probably most precious exhibit of our collection: The original zither used by Anton Karas to record the film music. For 20 years it was sleeping in Anton Karas' garden house where he used to practise the zither every day.
